Left-handed Scissors

Know the difference between Left and Right-handed scissors. Have a look at the Scissors below. Do you notice how they seem to be mirroring each other!

Through research conducted the easiest way to find out if a scissor is meant for left or right hand people is to hold the scissor as show above and see if your left hand will be holding the left handle and the right hand will be holding the right side handle.

Then have a look at the blades. If the blade on my left hand is on top of the other blades, this is left handed scissors and they will work perfectly for you.  If the blade in your left hand goes underneath the other blade,. This is right hand scissors and will give you problems when cutting. Don’t bother reading the tags that says suitable for everyone. Make sure that its suitable for you by keeping these aspects in mind.

Aspects to consider: For children that is left handed and starting out at school, this can be a huge frustration as they won’t be able to cut accurately, as they are unable to see the blades.  This will improve confidence and won’t make him/her feel clumsy or useless.

The blades on left-handed scissors are biased to complement the left-hand cutting motion. Proper left handed scissors have the blades reversed so you can see your cutting line and get a clean cut. If the top blade is not on the left as you look while you are cutting, they are NOT left-handed!
