Because there is a larger population of right handed people, our everyday utensils, gets mass produced, specifically for the right handed. Therefore there are many right handed tools and appliances that are difficult for left handed people to use and could be dangerous when used. Many left handers adjust to these tools and appliances quite well, but for others it’s a must to find left handed versions of the products.
For left handed people, when they do use right handed products it could become awkward and inefficient, therefore they manipulate the product and could be become dangerous when used.
Take the scissor example. If you look at the handles, it’s extremely difficult and uncomfortable for thee left hander to use.

Scissors, can-openers, potato-peelers, corkscrews, kitchen knives, measuring cups, rulers, pencil sharpeners, some school desks, notebooks, cheque-books,computer mice, computer keyboards, cameras, video cameras, watches, fishing reels, golf clubs, car ignitions.
